Scope

The Flinders Street Station Upgrade will be delivered in two programs. Repair and restoration to the administration building, and works to improve the customer experience including passenger flow and the customer experience.

The station-wide refresh and restoration;

• painting, tiling and upgrading of platform lighting
• rebuilding toilet facilities
• de-cluttering platforms to cater for additional customers
• improved customer information, ticketing services and redesign of passenger information displays
• implementing new way finding to provide targeted delivery of passenger information
• a customer information hub

Expanding access to the station to counter pedestrian congestion by;

• redesigning and extending the Swanston Street concourse
• improving access at the western end and Degraves subway
• a new gateline at the main entrance making it easier to enter and exit

Early works to improve the station commenced in September 2015, including a trial of new white lighting on two platforms, redesigning public toilets and removal of redundant signage.
