FAQ
What is the Night Network trial?
From 1 January 2016, Melbourne's Night Network will get you where you need to be. The Night Network trial includes all night public transport on weekends, with all night trains and trams, late night buses, and a 2am coach service to key regional centres. The all night public transport trial will provide more options for people travelling to and from work throughout the night, and provide greater access to the city, nightlife areas and popular hotspots.
Who is delivering Night Network services?
Who will have access to Night Network services?
The trial has been designed to provide over 70 per cent of Melburnians with an all night train, tram or bus service within one kilometre of their home, so that there is the best chance possible to properly assess the success of all night transport on weekends.
Regional Victorians along the Bendigo, Ballarat, Traralgon and Geelong lines will also have access to a 2am Night Coach service.
What fares will apply to the Night Network services?
Standard myki fares will apply for travel on Night Network services. Customers should remember to touch on and touch off with their myki to receive the correct fare.
Metropolitan customers can travel into the city using a daily or 2-hour myki fare, and return home prior to 3am (touch on before 3am) on the same fare. A new fare will be charged for any travel when touch on occurs after 3am, as public transport fares switch to a new day after 3am. Off-peak fares will apply for V/Line customers.
